Lyzon — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 September 2026

Lyzon is a dating app built around progressive reveal: you share your personality first, and photos, voice and identity only when you choose to. This policy explains what we collect, why, who it goes to, and what control you have.

Lyzon is built and operated by Vishal Chauhan, an independent developer based in India ("we", "us"). There is no company behind it at present; it is run by one person. You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@lyzon.in.

1. Who can use Lyzon

Lyzon is for adults only. You must be 18 or older. We collect your date of birth at sign-up and block accounts under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if we learn we have, we delete the account and its data.

2. What we collect

Account and identity

DataWhy
Phone number To create your account and sign you in by one-time password. Your number is stored only as an irreversible cryptographic hash — we do not keep the number itself in our database. It is passed to our SMS provider at the moment a code is sent.
Date of birth, genderAge verification (18+), and matching preferences.
Device identifier, push token, session recordsTo keep you signed in, deliver notifications, and let you see and revoke active sessions.

Your profile

DataWhy
Display name, bio, occupation, education, height, relationship intentionShown on your profile to other users.
Interests, prompt answers, lifestyle and dating preferencesShown on your profile and used to suggest compatible people.
AvatarEveryone has an illustrated avatar rather than a photo. This is either a character you build in the app, or — only if you connect Snapchat — your Bitmoji (see section 5).
Communities, organisations and skillsOptional badges. Verifying an affiliation may involve checking a work or study email address.

Location

You choose how precise this is. You can pick a city, in which case we store that city's centre coordinates, or grant device location permission, in which case we store your device's coordinates. We use it only to calculate distance between you and other users and to filter who you see. Other users are shown an approximate distance, never your coordinates. You can switch back to a city at any time.

Messages, photos and calls

DataWhy and how it is handled
Chat messagesStored so conversations persist across devices.
Photos you share privately Encrypted at rest and access-controlled, so they are viewable only by the person you shared them with. Photos may be single-view; we record when one is opened.
Screenshot events If your device reports that a screenshot was taken of private media, we record that and tell the person who shared it. We never capture the screenshot itself.
Voice and video calls Carried by our real-time provider. We store call metadata such as participants, start time and duration. We do not record call audio or video.

Verification selfie

Getting a verified badge is optional. If you request it, we ask for a selfie, encrypt it at rest, and have a reviewer compare it to your profile. This selfie is never shown to other users — it exists only to award or refuse the badge, and is deleted within 90 days of review.

Safety

If you block or report someone, we store that report, including anything you write in it and the context needed to act on it. We use these to investigate, to remove accounts that break our rules, and to keep blocked people apart. Reports may be retained after an account is deleted where we need them to keep other users safe.

3. What we do not do

4. Legal bases and why we process

We process your data to provide the service you asked for (your account, profile, matching and messaging); with your consent where the law requires it (precise location, camera and photos, notifications, connecting Snapchat — each asked for separately and revocable); to meet legal obligations; and for our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe and preventing abuse.

5. Snapchat and Bitmoji (optional)

You may connect a Snapchat account to use your Bitmoji as your avatar. If you do, Snap shares your Snapchat display name and a link to your Bitmoji avatar image with us, and we store that link on your profile so it can be displayed. We request nothing else. We do not receive your Snapchat password, friends, Snaps or messages, and we never post to Snapchat.

Connecting is entirely optional and you can disconnect at any time by changing your avatar, which removes the stored link. Your use of Snapchat is governed by Snap's own privacy policy.

6. Who we share data with

We use the service providers below, who process data on our instructions only. We will name each one here once the app is live and those providers are fixed; until then they are described by role rather than guessed at.

ProviderWhat they handle
An SMS delivery providerSending one-time sign-in codes to your phone number. Your number is passed to them only at the moment a code is sent.
A cloud hosting providerRunning the application and its database.
An S3-compatible object storage providerEncrypted storage of private media and verification selfies.
LiveKitCarrying voice and video calls. Not recorded.
Apple / GoogleDelivering push notifications to your device.
Google MapsDisplaying maps, where the app shows one.
SnapOnly if you connect Snapchat — see section 5.

We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect someone's safety.

7. Where your data is held

Your data is stored in India. Some providers above may process data in other countries; where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards for the transfer.

8. How long we keep it

9. Your rights

You can access and correct most of your data directly in the app. You can also ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it, and you can withdraw any consent you gave. Contact support@lyzon.in and we will respond within the period the law allows.

You can delete your account at any time from the app (Me → Delete account), or by following the steps at delete-account if you no longer have the app. Device permissions — location, camera, photos, notifications — can be withdrawn in your phone's settings, though some features will stop working.

10. Security

We hash phone numbers rather than storing them, encrypt private media and verification selfies at rest, serve all traffic over TLS, and restrict access to personal data to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and will notify you and the relevant authority of a breach where the law requires.

11. Grievance Officer (India)

In line with Indian law, you may contact our Grievance Officer with any complaint about how your data is handled:

We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.

12. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
